An Akeso Christmas Tale & a Big Ebook Sale

An Akeso Christmas Tale & a Big Ebook Sale

Merriest of Christmases and Happiest of Holidays to you! I hope you are heading into a festive week full of friends, family and joy - and some much deserved reading time with great books, of course. ;)

You all really enjoyed the Halloween ghost story I shared, so I’ve written another little flash story - more on that in a second. First, I’m running a big sale on ebooks from my direct store. Now through January 1st, you can get 30% off every ebook you purchase directly from me. Use the coupon “HOLIDAY23” as many times as you want, for as many books as you like. GO TO THE SALE

Now, about that Christmas flash fiction. A VERY AKESO CHRISTMAS takes place a few months after Duality; as such, it does contain some spoilers for the Riven Worlds novels. As befitting a Christmas tale written by someone who grew up on the likes of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman, it is heartwarming, a little silly, and terribly sappy!

I scribbled it out in about two hours earlier this week, and it’s only been edited for spelling errors. At twelve hundred words, it’s a super-quick read. I hope it gets you in the holiday frame of mind as you go into this special week. Here’s a tiny excerpt from the story:

The house was decked in an extravaganza of greenery and shining balls and red bows and bright artificial stars; the two largest trees situated off the porch bore matching attire. “What is this?”

Alex appeared from Eren’s left as the wormhole faded away. “It’s Christmas.” She extended a hand to him. “Come inside.”

What in Athena’s name was ‘Christmas’? A quick query told him it was a Human holiday with religious roots that centered around gift-giving, decorating trees, singing carols, lighting things up, something about reindeer and…possibly snowball fights?

MORE INFO AND RETAILERS

I have so much more news! Where to start?

  • EXIN EX MACHINA (Asterion Noir Book 1) is now FREE to download at all retailers. Know someone who likes a heavy dose of cyberpunk in their space opera? Point them to this gateway drug. :)

  • I wrote a fun little piece for the tech/science news site The Debrief about about my creation of the sLume drive, why I was inspired by the proposed Alcubierre Warp Drive, and how the science of FTL drives is starting to catch up to the science fiction. Give it a read and let me know what you think: “Faster-Than-Light Travel Is Coming At Us Faster Than We Thought”

  • It was a climb, but ALL audiobooks are now available at the major audiobook retailers: Apple, Nook, Google Play, Kobo, Chirp, Author’s Direct & on the website (best deal). The first 9 books (plus the Riven Worlds books) are once again available on Audible as well, and the remaining books should return soon.

  • By special request, I’ve added prints of the Amaranthe book covers to the Zazzle store, as well as several concept art pieces. Note: due to restrictions on the art licenses, I can't offer individual book covers - but I can offer beautiful collages. Check them out at the store.

To close out, check out this amazing collection of 35 FREE sci-fi, cyberpunk and techno-thriller novels, available through the end of April.

The INVERSION Audiobook is Here - Plus a Visual of Anaden History & a Video Chat

The INVERSION Audiobook is Here - Plus a Visual of Anaden History & a Video Chat

I’m so excited (and relieved) to share that the INVERSION audiobook is now available on Audible & Amazon (it should be available on Apple Books in the next day or two - when it is, you’ll find it HERE). Patient audiobook listeners, you can at last find out what happens to Miriam, to Malcolm, and to Marlee and all the Asterions trapped on Namino. Lots of other exciting goings-on, too, so get to listening. :)

If you missed it earlier, check out my blog post on how I plan to make sure you never have to wait this long for an audiobook from me again: Audiobooks, the Changing Face of Indie Publishing &…You're Tired of Waiting! (So Am I)

Finally, I've recently gotten several questions about the order of events in Anaden history - with good reason, as that history is dribbled out to you in bits and pieces throughout the Resonant novels. But as all our players begin to converge once again, ancient events will continue to haunt the future. So I give you a Timeline of the major events in the Anaden Empire (and, to a lesser extent, the Asterion Dominion). View it in high resolution on the Amaranthe Wiki HERE.

The Anaden calendar is complicated with its Epoch system, so I've used a relative calendar, with Year 0, at the bottom right, equaling the start of...well, RELATIVITY. As you go to the left and up, you go back in time.

Let me know if anything isn't clear, or if you think I should have included something else! Oh, and it's free of *major* spoilers, so feel free to peruse it even if you aren't caught up (though depending on where you are, the events might not mean anything to you). And of course, you can see the spoiler-free Aurora Rhapsody timeline HERE.

ECHO RIFT is coming along quite nicely, with well over 100K words in the bank and heavy editing underway. Look for a cover reveal and release date announcement soon!

ABYSM Release Date, Blurb & More

ABYSM (Aurora Renegades Book Three) will released on JUNE 28, 2016. For my American readers, that means plenty of time to grab it before your July 4th vacation.

  • Is it being released a little earlier than any of us expected? Yes, it is. More on that in a blog post next week :). But I love that it is, and I hope you do, too. Without further ado, I give you the final cover and blurb:

I was honored to be interviewed by Pavarti K. Tyler as part of her "Women of Science Fiction" series. I talk about being an indie author, writing science fiction and the joy of doing it full time, and, yes, being a woman writing it. Leave a comment on the interview (not here) for a chance to win your choice of a signed paperback of Starshine or an ebook of Aurora Rising: The Complete Collection: #WomenofSciFi – Interview with GS Jennsen.
